“We will fight anyone, anywhere, anytime… for a good cause.”
The team is made up of members of the FDNY, who train for these grueling matches strictly on their own time. We believe that raising money for needy charities is well worth the hard work involved. We have fighters of every skill level. Some enter the squared circle for the first time, others for the first time in years and a few who fight on a regular basis. We will fight anyone for a good cause, but we will only make matches that are fair to both boxers in the ring.
Our Mission
The Bravest Boxing Team has earned close to $100,000 for many worthwhile charities, including, but are not limited to:

Company Overview
The FDNY Boxing Team is incorporated in the NY State and recognized as a not-for-profit organization by the Internal Revenue Service. We were formed over 20 years ago by retired Capt. Manny Fernandez. In the early days, there would be one big fight a year vs. our brothers in blue, The NYPD Fighting Finest. This event was held in the Felt Forum at Madison Square Garden. Each year, it was sold out to capacity, earning thousands of dollars for our respective widows and children’s funds. We have also fought in charity matches against teams from Russia, England and Ireland. Today’s team is run by a former member of those teams, Firefighter Bobby McGuire. The Bravest Boxing Team is now more active then ever! We now host our own annual SMOKER, compete in the NYC Golden Gloves (2 champions so far!) and the NYC Metro. We now take on The Fighting Finest twice a year: once in NYC (still our biggest show) and again in the world famous Del Mar Race Track in San Diego, CA. We have an annual show vs. the The NY Athletic Club. We also team up with the NYPD and have annual home and away shows against combined police and fire depts. from London, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Chicago. We also compete in the annual International Police and Fire Games in Las Vegas and The World Police and Fire Games (Indiana 2001, Barcelona 2003, Quebec 2005, Australia 2007 and Vancouver 2009, NYC 2011)
We are always looking to add new opponents, so if you are from another Police or Fire Dept. and would like to schedule a charity boxing match, contact Bobby McGuire at FDNYboxing@aol.com
